About This Dog for Adoption

Buddy's ideal home

Meet Buddy, the sunny 3 year old Golden Retriever! Buddy is on the lookout for his forever home which he could potentially share with another resident dog subject to a successful meet at the centre. He needs an adult only home with people that are willing to help him build his confidence around getting into the car through ongoing training, as this is something Buddy struggles with. He can be left alone for up to 6 hours eventually, but initially will need people around most of the time whilst he builds this up. He does have some medical needs that will be discussed with our vet team. Buddy enjoys going out on sniff walks and is very comfortable walking on the lead, ready for his next adventure!

Could you be Buddy's perfect match?

Buddy is a sweet boy that always has to grab one of his favourite teddies to bring to you when he first greets you. He does enjoy some occasional fuss and attention, but prefers it on his own terms and will happily entertain himself with his soft toys or a tennis ball. As Buddy has come from a home previously, he is fully housetrained and also knows 'Sit' and 'Leave', though his recall will need a bit of work! He is a very sociable chap that likes to make doggy friends as long as they match his calm and friendly nature.

Golden Retriever Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Golden Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Golden Retriever Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
