About This Dog for Adoption

Haggis's ideal home

Haggis is a gorgeous 1 year old Golden Retriever x Collie who is a playful and energetic lad! Haggis loves socialising with other dogs, playing with toys and getting tasty enrichment treats. At the moment, he'd do best as the only pet in the home, but would enjoy making dog friends when out and about. He is looking to have direct access into his own private and secure garden where he can play around to his heart's content, especially as we'd recommend him to be kept on lead whilst in public. Handsome Haggis is eager to continue his basic training in his new home, with a focus on calm behaviours and improving his recall. He’s a bright, lovable lad ready to bring joy and adventure to the right family!

Could you be Haggis's perfect match?

Someone at home for most of the day would be best for Haggis as he was previously being left for longer than he could cope for. Any time that he is left alone for should be built up very gradually, especially whilst he is settling in. Haggis can be a little worried by some handling, e.g. grooming, so a patient family who are willing to take things at his own pace would be perfect for him. He has sore hips which he receives daily pain relief for, but our vet team will happily discuss this in more detail with his potential family.
Animal Welfare licence number is AWE02, as licenced by Glasgow City Council.

Golden Retriever Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Golden Retriever.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Golden Retriever Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
