About This Dog

Benson's ideal home

Beautiful Benson is a six-year-old Golden Retriever looking for a patient home where emotional support is just as important as exercise. He needs adopters who understand that confidence takes time and are happy to work gradually on alone time, car journeys and day-to-day training. While he can feel anxious around traffic and unfamiliar environments, he copes well with calm guidance and would suit life in a quieter location, such as a small town or on the outskirts of a city. Benson would be happiest in a home with older children who understand dog body language and can give him space when he feels overwhelmed, and he’ll need thoughtful management around visitors to help him feel safe and confident during greetings.

Could you be Benson's perfect match?

Once you get to know him, Benson is an incredibly sweet, gentle soul with so much love to give. He’s a friendly and affectionate boy who adores human attention and enjoys being close to his people, even if he sometimes isn’t quite sure what to do with all those big feelings yet. He has a moderate energy level and enjoys long, leisurely walks, especially if there’s the chance to socialise with other dogs - he really lights up around fellow furry friends and loves a good play when he feels relaxed. While toys aren’t fully his thing yet, he enjoys carrying and chewing a ball and will likely discover more playful joys as his confidence grows. Benson will need ongoing support with toilet training and learning everyday skills, but in return he offers loyalty, a soft, loving nature and brings a gentle joy to everyday life.
